The city of Fleg was once a nameless fishing village in the far reaches of the Lakelands, full of ramshackle buildings and peasants struggling to survive. This suddenly changed in K50, when a meteor struck the side of the Mountain of Cinders, and a gaping wound in the side of the mountain began to bleed a river of lava that flowed right through the center of the village. What began as a disaster became an opportunity, thanks to a dwarven smith from the Ragepick clan, Wladik Kasmatov, who had run to the village to drink away his remaining years. Half mad already, Kasmatov saw incredible opportunity in the lava flow, as he hauled an anvil to the side of a molten stream and began to work steel with the heat of the lava. Kasmatov declared that the town would now be known as “Fleg,” the Dwarven word for “Flow”, and began churning out smithworks like a man possessed. With this new boon, Kazmatov solicited an investment from the Ragepick clan elder Vasili Zhukov, and began to build a network of foundries in Fleg that would harness the heat of the molten river for their production. Over the last 60 years, Fleg has grown explosively and is now the second largest city in the West of Dennholm, and boasts an industrial output greater even than Trendleheim. The city has no lord, and is instead ruled by a council of factory owners, while the dwarven smiths experiment with new, exciting creations of steam, clockwork, and steel. The air in Fleg is choked with ash and smoke, and rings with the sounds of hammers and chains, but the Leadership Council will accept no insolence from the workers, driven only by the pursuit of greater output and greater wealth.
